All You, Need Is…

A new Duran single.

I’ve looked forward to this sentence constantly for the last 20 years.

After a couple listens tonight, I have to say, Mark Ronson is a very welcomed thing. I really hear the old Duran with a modern sound. That’s hard to accomplish. For a group to continue to put out the same sounding records over and over is a career killer, but if the sound changes, career killer. You’re kind of fucked by success no mater what. Duran Duran have had this problem for years. My favorite records from the band were the ones when the band was unknown, Big Thing and Liberty. Maybe I’ll write about those.

I’m going to listen to the song some more, and eagerly await the new record in two weeks, then the extra tracks coming next year (brilliant move boys), then we’ll get a real review.
